Humates & the History of Humate Supreme

By definition humates are the end result of decayed matter; the purest form of organic matter that has decayed to the point that its origin can no longer be identified.   Generically speaking, all humates have positive agriculture benefits; however all humates are not equal.  As a mined product they vary from deposit to deposit influenced by geographical location and geological properties surrounding the deposit.  Humate properties are also influenced by the their origin i.e. soft leafy vegetation versus heavy stalk or woody vegetation, as well as some deposits being rich in minerals, micro-nutrients and bio-life, while others are not.

Most humate deposits are closely associated with coal deposits, some being an overburden of a coal vein and referred to as “brown coal”.  Lignites and Leonardites fall within this category, in that they are closely associated with coal, whereas most can be ignited and actually produce Btu’s.  There are unique humate deposits that are not closely associated with coal, referred to as “virgin humate”, a term that dates back at least 40 years to the late 1960’s.  These humate deposits are associated with high amounts of natural mineral impregnation, and will not ignite or burn.

Humates are the primary source of “humic acids” known to exist (humic acid can be extracted from coal in a complex and expensive procedure developed in the mid-1960’s, but to what gain, when they are so readily available in humates).  The term “humic acids” most generally refer to a group of acids; including humic, fulvic, and ulvic acid.   Science still hasn’t unlocked all the secrets as to how and why humic acids work…but there is no denying that they do work; and results can often be extraordinary.  Most of the current claims associated with fulvic acid have more to do with liquid “elixir” for human consumption than those for agricultural use.  There is data that suggests fulvic acid promotes cell development, however fulvic acid is hard to measure and like humic acid there is much too be done on the science front.

The biggest downside to humates through the years is inconsistency…a direct result of the wide spread practice of “mine – crush – spread”, rather than developing actual consistent marketable products that allow the end user a degree of reasonable expectation each time the product is used.  Again, humates come from naturally occurring deposits, which not only vary from deposit to deposit, but can fluctuate within the deposit itself.  Today, we are seeing an increase in humate (or humic acid) based products, and I say Kudos to every manufacture that applies science and good manufacturing practices to producing a product consistent in analysis and product quality, to the benefit of the end consumer and the reputation of humates and humic acids as a whole.

Humate Supreme™ is the benefactor of the “pioneers” associated with this move away from the “mine – crush – spread” practice, towards the philosophy that humates can have a huge beneficial impact on agriculture and mankind, if they were processed into a consistent product, with a guaranteed analysis; that could be handled, transported, stored, blended, bagged and spread with equipment already in use in the market place.  This research, dating back to 1968, focused on all markets; including commercial agriculture, turf, shrubs, trees, home & garden, and houseplants; resulting in commercial grade products in bulk, bagged…and concentrated plant food tablets that promoted “no till’ root zone feeding in the mid 1970’s; a concept that is rapidly gaining vast acceptance in the current move towards eco-friendly sustainable agriculture.  Humate Supreme™ was developed out of this expansive research, and expertise; formulated specific to the hemp/medical cannabis family of plants.

Humate Supreme™ produces a handful of products, backed by aforementioned 40+ years of research and formulated specific for medical cannabis; with the main products being the Humate Supreme™ plant food tablet, and the Humate Supreme™ Starter tabs for use with seed and/or clone plantings.  The Humate Supreme™ Potting Soil Activator, Humate Supreme™ Pre-Mix Growing Medium, and Humate Supreme™ Liquid Tea are optional products that can be used by the most caring gardeners that want to “kick start” the growing process.

We’re not into product bashing; therefore we won’t address other products on the market herein, except to say that expensive, cumbersome, chemical, hydroponics is not the way to go.  We highly promote a more natural approach to growing; including growing in a soil based growing medium, rich in organic matter.

Humate Supreme™ is the absolute best product on the market for growing medical cannabis; a power packed concentrated tablet providing all the required nutrients to growing lush, vibrant, healthy, potent plants.  Humate Supreme™ products are also very eco-friendly, making efficient use of the nutrients, promoting beneficial bio-life, and building the growing medium rather than depleting it, allowing the continued use of the growing medium from crop to crop.
